Lesson #64 - A Birthday Is Just Another Day

That is what I tell myself every year. Okay, so it is my birthday...so what?! I am another year older - waahoo! This year I happen to be half way to 52...SUPER! I digress!! Since everyone loves getting presents...and hopefully you all want to see the presents I got (wink), let us review what I got this year for my birthday (and what I gave to others):

Before going to sleep on Friday night, I thought to myself - my birthday should be a national holiday, darn it...and so - for my name's sake - I figured I'd give a VAST majority of people the most fabulous snow fall they've ever seen...30 inches in my area, of course, so that I could enjoy it as well!

I woke up on Saturday morning and made the man and I breakfast...and what better for a princess's birthday breakfast than pink pancakes?!

After breakfast, it was time to put the babe down for her nap...and she wasn't happy with me at ALL. She ever gave me the stink eye!

I went into the bedroom to chat with the man, while he was getting ready for work, and saw a wonderful card on my side of the bed...

Since I gave everyone snow, I thought I should probably give the man a few helpers to dig him out...he did have to go to work after all!

I can't forget the angry babe that greeted me after her nappy nap...she has not been happy thanks to her first tooth cutting through!

Before her afternoon nap, I thought I would give the babe a wee bit of vodka on her gums...because I couldn't find the Baby Orajel...don't judge - our parents did it to us and we turned out just fine!!

So, in review, I got the following for my 26th birthday:

* Pink Pancakes (YAY)
* Stink Eye (from the babe)
* A Beautiful Card (that made me cry) from The Man
* An angry crying child post-nappy nap

...and I gave the following to those around me (because I'm just THAT damn nice):

* Snow...and not just some piddly snow...I'm talking 30 friggin inches, people!
* Helpers with Dust Pans...to dig out the Hummer!
* Vodka...hopefully The Babe's gums weren't in so much pain after that!

The one thing that I really wanted...but didn't get...a nice juicy STEAK (I promise, there is a grill under there)!!! BOOOOOO!

Lesson #63 - If I Knew Then What I Know Now {Part One}

February 5, 2010

The Younger Me,

Well, hello there!! I betcha never even DREAMED that you'd be getting a letter from the older me - huh??

I'll give you a minute to pick yourself up off the floor.

Better?? Good!! So, since tomorrow is our birthday - Happy Birthday, by the way - I wanted to send you a quick letter with a few things I've learned since I was your age. While I know that we head strong and stubborn, I feel that you will take these lessons to heart and use them to your advantage. Here we go:

High School

That boy...oh, what is his name - Justin, Jimmy, Jason - whatever...that we start seeing 1st semester of freshman year...yeah, him...he is NO GOOD for us! Keep our head in the books, concentrate on our grades and have fun with our cheerleading friends. There will be a time to worry about boys - and this is not that time. Just have fun and enjoy life. If not, we'll look back and wish we had taken each minute to bask in youth. The reason that boy is no good for us...he'll introduce us to things, like marijuana, that we just don't have time for. We're going to make time, though, and our grades are going to fall because of it. If the thought of asking grandma for a pot and soil to plant those "herb seeds"...just push it away. She is going to tell dad and life will suck...fair warning! Thankfully, we'll eventually leave him for an older guy. Joining the power-lifting team 2nd semester...smartest choice EVER...or not. The guy we meet on the team...the one that doesn't go to our school, but only works out with the team...stay away from him. If not, he will do things to us that we will never be able to forget...we will have nightmares...forever. The guy that you do end up dating is okay - for the time being. We will break up...multiple times...and he will be the one crying. I know, I know...what a guy! We're better off, though...he is going to end up getting married and divorced in less than a year. He'll never find anyone as great as us - but we can do better! Junior year there will be a guy...a great guy...who comes along. We'll become friends with his sister first - that is our "in". We'll date him for 4 years and think HE. IS. IT. He isn't...promise. We are both in different places in life...and that is just fine. We wanted to get married and he had other plans. Try not show how heartbroken we are when he gets married a year after the split. Senior year will come and go like a blur...just be sure to maintain those important friendships with the key girls we love. I know, I know...we aren't much for girlfriends because females are so petty, but they are going to get you through some of the lowest points in life...we are going to need them in the future!

I'll leave it at that for now...college is a whole other set of skeletons!!

All my love,
The Older, Wiser, More Mature Me

Lesson #48 - Hooters Is A Great Birthday Party Location

**Don't forget to enter my giveaway HERE...or click on the "Get Rewarded" button for other giveaway information!!**

**Disclaimer: We were in a non-smoking area of the restaurant...no babies were harmed in the making of this birthday party**

I wanted to post about this particular experience because of The Princess's post from yesterday.

Oh, did I mention this birthday party was for a 7-year-old girl?? Yeah...it ROCKED!! The babe was only a month old. I wanted to get out of the house. One of my friends was having a birthday party for her daughter's 7th birthday on Saturday.

So I packed up the babe the day before and off we went to Toys R Us to find the perfect birthday present. I'm really shocked that I had the presence of mind to get a birthday gift for the poor girl. Anyways, the babe and I finally got the best gift EVER - a Hannah Montana karaoke game that hooks up to the TV...it even came with a wig and sparkly microphone!! Then we stopped at a craft store so I could pick up some cursive-looking stickers to make a birthday card. This is what I came up with finally:

I thought it was pretty damn creative ~ especially since I was still in my postpartum haze!!! Anywho...so, the following day - with baby and very cool gift in hand - I set off to my local Hooters restaurant. Wait. What. Where was I going?? Oh yes, I said Hooters alright!!

My girlfriend is a little rough around the edges - I'll admit - but she makes the most wonderful cakes you've ever tasted!! She made a birthday cake when hubs turned 30 - and found out he was going to be a daddy - and a wedding for our big day!! I'm telling you what...no one can turn a Harvey Wallbanger into a cake like my friend.

Once the babe and I arrived, the birthday girl wanted to hold her. While I was a little cautious about this I agreed. The pink-haired birthday girl took a seat and into her arms went the babe. I was so proud of the shirt the babe was wearing - it said B.Y.O.B (bring your own bottle)...I felt it was appropriate. This is the birthday girl and the babe:

They looked so cute together!!! Everyone else was pretty much there - and no, I wasn't the only one with a baby in tow - so my girlfriend decided it was cake time...before the adults started to dig in without allowing the candles to even be lit! When I saw the cake I really couldn't believe it. Well...you'll see what I mean:

In case you can't really make it out - it is a Hooters girl wearing a white shirt. See those boobs?? They look so realistic, don't they?? What, you can't see them?? Here...let me highlight them...

Oh yes, my fine blog-topia followers...those are nipples. Not just any nipples, though, but Hershey Kiss nipples. I didn't believe it when she told me, but those were the birthday girl's idea. Mom was just going to make plain boobs...but no, plain boobs just wouldn't do!

So, you see my friends...Hooters is the perfect location for a 7-year-old's birthday party...if for nothing else than to take pictures which can be used as blackmail later on in your child's life!!!
