Lesson #100 - Aging Gracefully IS Possible

HORRAY!!! I don't know about y'all, but I am SUPER excited that you I have made it to LESSON #100!! I mean, my parents always used to tell me that they learned a lot in life - but who knew they could be RIGHT?! So, without further ado-do...I present...Lesson #100

It seems as though some females have done away with their classiness. These days, so much emphasis is put on being young, tall, skinny, perky and young...too much, I think! Whatever happened to aging gracefully and WITH DIGNITY!! It seems as though some women have forgotten what it means to be more mature as opposed to "older" - because those two things can be mutually exclusive, at times.

Sometimes I envy those who grew up in decades past - and not the recent past either...those men knew that a lady deserved respect - and knew how to give it - and the women had wonderful roll models to look up to...

Audrey Hepburn

Grace Kelly

Jackie O

Alas, our children now have these "roll models" to mold their every move...

Lady Gaga

Paris Hilton

Amy Winehouse

Fergie

...and why is it that people wonder why this world is going to hell in a hand-basket??? HELLLOOOOOOOOO!! You listen to the same music as your kids...you act just like your kids most of the time...and some of you even DRESS like your kids!! Borrowing your daughter's clothes only makes you look like an idiot...not only that, but if you dress like them - they will treat you like a peer instead of a parent. Assert yourselves again - PLEASE - for the love of our future!!! Just age gracefully...

Congrats and thankfully I am not a chick, I don't have a daughter and Fergie's hot. Someone had to say it.

AMEN! I have twin girls and I am terrified of who their role models will be (besides the awesome me, of course!). You are so right. I adore Audrey Hepburn and Jackie O. Sigh. Where did we go wrong?!

Congrats on the 100. My daughter is almost three and the way she dresses herself now...I'm not worried about too much reveal. The girl puts on three shirts almost every day and wears long pants under dresses and skirts. Unfortunately, this means she's the other extreme of fashion disaster.

But she loves her some shoes.

STANDING OVATION!!! You are so right. It's ridiculous what is considered "respect worthy" today.

Did you read the most recent Vanity Fair? There was an article on Grace Kelly in it. She was such a classic beauty. And Jackie O? What a style icon. Sadly, those days are gone.

CONGRATS on 100 lessons! And you are SO RIGHT! Love this post!! I'm always trying to pay attention to who's up and coming in the tween/teen set because I know soon enough my daughter will be interested, and she needs to have some truly positive role models! (Other than me, because I know I'm going to be obsolete in the role model category for a while for her!)

I'm from Friday Follow. You are very right! It is sad to see who our kids have to look up to these days. And everytime I think there is a role model forming they do something that makes me rethink it. And my little one is only 21 months old. What will things look like when she's 12, let alone 21?

first off, congratulations on the #100. Second, I wish I could look like Fergie, but no such luck, so I don't listen to the same music as my kids, but crap there are days I dress like them. Since my kids are boys I am not ashamed to say I wear camo and sweats more that I should. Have a great weekend.
