Lesson #138 - Do Not Feed The Animals

...and by animals, I mean my children...and by children, I really mean Bubba.

I don't know what is going on with him...but he is gaining weight faster than I can keep up!! Since Lulu was - and is still - so small (she still wears some 12-18 month clothes at 26 months), I guess I'm just not used to the normal growth of a child...maybe?!

Whatever it is, I think I need to stop feeding him.

As of right now, he eats whatever the family eats - in addition to his 4 8oz bottles of formula - at mealtime...talk about a little (fat) piglet! The only reason I started giving him table food is because if I don't then he SCREAMS - it is THE most ear piercing noise you have ever heard (I will post a vlog on this soon). I mean, don't get me wrong - he is a cutie pie!! It just seems like every picture I have of him, is of him eating something...

Chewing on a goldfish (while sporting his sister's new hat)

 Sucking down some formula

Munching on a butter cookie

Stealing cheese curls from his sister

He even goes after the dog's food!!

Bubba has gotten so big that his chubby legs get caught between the slats of his bed and he can't get them unstuck. I have finally begun to realize what all the screaming is about after the first 5 minutes of nap time - which is more like sibling-talk-time-therapy. I have to go back into the room and get fatty's leg out from the slats before he can go to sleep.

I have a crib bumper up and I always try to put him down on the opposite side of the crib from where he gets stuck. Nothing works though.

Do any of you moms out there have - or maybe have had - this issue with your chitlin?? Is there any good solution to keep his legs from getting stuck in the slats??

Hahah, what a chubby cutie!

Don't worry, I was about twice the weight as a baby. Literally, I was obese. By 3 years old, I was skinny as a rail. I was too fat-less to even develop boobs until age 16.

Kinda nice to know my daughter isn't the only one who enjoys dog food as a snack... hahah.

LOL, my second one was a chunky monkey and got his legs stuck in the slats of his crib ALL. THE. TIME. Vaseline works wonders.

I'd rather see a baby that eats than one that looks like his parents are starving them.

I couldn't keep my kids in the crib long enough to get stuck. When they started crawling and climbing, getting out of that gated prison was their first objective. ; ) And with older siblings to help in their escape goals... Well, mine never got to stay in the crib as long as I would have liked. Of course, as long as I would have liked might mean that they'd still be locked up now. ; )

Interesting. The Boy eats, eats, eats, and eats, but he's so scrawny. To be fair, he was 8+ weeks early, but he won't stop eating.

Oh my... he is super cute though! Little chunker for sure. I haven't had this problem but if the crib bumper isn't working, I have no idea.

sorry, no help here. I loved the chunkiness of Grandson. Now that he's 4 and all lean and 'mean' I miss those chunks!

I LOVE the pictures! hahahahaha! I can't tell you there is a definite way to keep his little chubbers out of the slats of the bed. The breathable bumper worked for me, but every kid is different (had has a different determination). My son was the SAME WAY with food. He looked like a little Mini Michelin Man! He ate and ate and ate and ATEEEE! He was so pudgy, I was afraid Star magazine was going to snap his picture and put him on the cover! It was cute tho, and no harm done. He was just a growing boy! My daughter is the opposite :) And he is so active and is a completely normal size now - long and lean and not an ounce of fat! :)

Haha!! So cute! My Livi has a HUGE appitite. Blake was never much of an eater...and still isn't!! I would rather have them be piggy-pies....then you dont have to worry about them getting enough!!

He is very cute! I wouldn't say that he overly chunky though. My little guy is just 10 months and is almost 30 lbs (I haven't given him any food yet!!!! Just breastmilk still) lol I don't have any advise on your problem though, did you think of maybe trying to put another piece of wood so that it will prevent his little leg from going through? That's all I got!! :)

He is merely preparing you for the non-stop food shoveling that he will do from the age of 13 until college.

When my son has band practice, there are three 15 year old boys in the house and they clear the cabinets like a plague of locusts. It's actually funny to watch.
