Lesson #139 - Monsers Are Everywhere

"AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!"

"Moooooooooooooommmmmmmmmmmyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!"

"Mommy, quick...mommy, quick."

*Mommy running up the THUMP stairs as fast as knee into wall humanly possible without elbow into door frame getting injured.

"Whats wrong baby? Are you okay?!"

My little Lulu was standing in her crib - tears running down her face - half naked because she likes to undress before going to sleep - and shivering like a frightened chihuahua.

I had never seen her like that before. Even though Bubba was also awake - and probably quite hungry - I scooped Lulu up into my arms and rocked her, trying to calm her down as best as I could at the time. After a minute she had finally stopped crying and her red face was more of a pink color.

"What happened little Lu? Why were you crying?"

"Monsers, mommy...there are monsers in the house"

"You mean monsters, baby? Where are the monsters?"

"Everywhere...Bubba saw monsers too!"

At the end of all this, I'm still not sure if Lulu saw an actual monster or if one of our attic friends came out to play. Maybe she had a napmare and that was her only way to communicate how/why she was scared. I wanted to hold her for the rest of the day and reassure her that there are no monsers.

I can't do that, though, because there are monsters out there in the world. Kiddie bullies attack other kids at school - adult bullies demean other adults and put them down - bloggy bullies attack others online.

Yes, monsters are everywhere unfortunately. Why can't I just put my babies in a bubble of  happiness forever?!

Sigh...you are so right. It's sad that there are so many evil people in this world and that it's almost like a full-time job for us parents to teach our kids how to protect themselves.

Isaak went through this stage. Mica went through a night terror stage; he would just scream and wouldn't talk to us at all!

If it keeps up you can do one of two things. 1) Keep being reassuring. 2) Make monster spray. Just mix water and vinegar. Spray it around the room. Tell her it's to keep the monsters away. Us being reassuring seemed to do the trick.

They sell monster spray and a book here: http://www.ecomom.com/bye-bye-monster-storybook-and-spray-gift-set-fill-it-yourself.html

I have a giveaway for the store going on right now on one of my other blogs: http://milkingtheissue.blogspot.com/2011/09/ecomom-baby-samples-review-and-15.html

Breaks your heart, doesn't it?

First - I hope your knee and your elbow are both ok.

Monsers are scary but we as parents can teach our kids ways to deal with monsers and protect them as well as teaching them to protect themselves.

And we can be there to rock the monsers away when they do crawl out in the night.

Hope the baby is feeling better

You could put them in a bubble of happiness, but they'd probably be less immune to the germs in the world.

Also, you're a good mom. If you didn't feel like holding her all day after that, I'd think otherwise.

The Girl has night terrors about once a week or so. It's horrifying, and she'll only calm down for me. If The Wife goes in to help her, she freaks out and starts throwing punches. It's heartbreaking on so many levels.

Awww no! It's horrible when they get scared! I used to babysit a little girl that had nightmares quite a lot and all I wanted to do was cuddle her and tell her everything was okay!

I'm your newest follower by the way, and I'm loving the blog so far! Very unique :)
Would love for you to take a look at mine!
